據國外媒體報導，微軟近日推出了面向初代Surface Pro的固件更新，主要是為即將於10月18日發布Windows 8.1正式版做準備；相反，Surface RT並沒有接到系統更新，不過它仍可以在18日通過Windows Store更新到Windows RT 8.1系統。
Surface Pro的固件更新包括了針對Windows 8.1的驅動更新、更新體驗增強、Type Cover 2和Touch Cover 2驅動優化。此外，在Surface Pro更新歷史頁面上，這次的Surface Pro固件更新還包括了UEFI固件更新和System Aggregator更新。
微軟建議所有Surface Pro用戶在安裝Windows 8.1正式版之前，首先進行這次的固件更新。
